Manhattan: Clear Skies

Clear skies and sunny here in NYC. It's rather chilly but clear skies are appreciated here in Manhattan, especially in February.

New York City: Fighting the Snow

26.9 inches of Snow

They are saying that this is record snowfall for the Northeast area of the United States. I have been here 10 years and its the worst I've seen but it is still manageable. I made it in to work on time and it is not too cold. Below are some pics I took last night and this morning.

Luck or Calculation? Woody Allen

Just saw Matchpoint and it is a compelling film that deals with issues of lust, ambition and luck.

Coming Soon: Breakfast at Wendys?

Yes, Wendys, the fast food chain here in America - known for their hearty lunches and beef hamburgers - will add breakfast to their menu to serve in the mornings. This should happen shortly, within the next several months.

Taste of Brazil in New York City

Colonial Cafe:

Last night I ate at this elegant Brazilian restaurant in the East Village of Manhattan called Colonial Cafe. It has a quaint, pre-industrial atmosphere, in fact, upon entrance there is a sign that bans cellphone use. Thankfully, I am not the only who thinks that cell phone use is an overbearing annoyance most of the time. The warm ambiance is supplemented by the friendly waitress who greets and sits the patrons. The music playing on the speakers is low and unobtrusive which makes for the perfect environment for compelling conversation. The place was not too crowded but it wasn't empty either, which makes it a perfect place to discuss sensitive issues publicly without feeling that the NSA is listening.

My first time trying Brazilian food and I loved the combination of fruits and spices. I ordered a fish dish as did my partner who ordered the grilled Salmon, I had another type of fish, although I can't quite remember the name. The caffé latte I ordered was great.

I didn't see anything on the desert that appealed to me so I didn't order any desert.

As far as price range, expect to pay $15 to $25 per entrée.

Great Albums of 2005

Radiance, Keith Jarrett(solo acoustic piano)

Day is Done, The Brad Mehldau Trio

The Ground, The Tord Gustavsen Trio

These three albums really stood out for me, all are quite monumental in their own way. Keith Jarrett's Radiance is a live recording of short, spontaneous improvisations in front of a Japanese audience. Brad Mehldau's Day is Done, is another album in Brad's oeuvre where the mixture of music is truly eclectic, enchanting and fiery. The Ground, the other trio album on this list is on the opposite end of the spectrum when compared with Brad's effort. But there is no need for comparison since they are both enjoyable.

Super Junk

That was one of the worst officiated games I have ever seen. The zebras gave this game away and there is no need of an nyc comment. The guys in pinstripe gave the game away, plain and simple. Seattle dominated the game quite honestly yet they still lost due to poor officiating.

Super Bowl Respect

I am predicting that Seattle will win super due to the lack of respect they are receiving.
